If the cloned voice sounds off or cloning fails, the steps below will resolve most issues.
Why cloning can fail
- Recording has too much background noise
- File is corrupted or recorded at very low quality
- MP3 format causing processing errors
- Sample is too short (under 15 seconds)
Steps to fix a failed clone
- Re-record the sample in a quieter environment
- Use a better microphone or a dedicated voice memo app
- If using MP3, convert the file to WAV and re-upload
- Read the sample phrase shown on screen during recording for best results
- Delete the failed clone and create a new one
What to know
- Clone quality is proportional to recording quality - There is no way to enhance a poor recording after the fact
- HQ and light models behave differently - HQ cloning requires a cleaner sample
- Cloning may occasionally fail on first attempt - Try once more before changing format
- Mic Permissions and Auto-Closing Widget
