Setting Greetings and Welcome Messages

Control how conversations start with the AI Double. Set a static greeting and guide the first reply based on what users say.

How to set greetings

  1. Go to Behaviour (find it in the sidebar under Double AI Twin)
  2. Scroll to Greeting
  3. Enter the Static Greeting message
  4. Add Conversation Steering instructions (optional)
  5. Click Save

1. Static Greeting

The first message users see when opening chat.

Character limit: Not specified in UI

Example: "Hello! How can I help you today?"

Use this to:

  • Welcome visitors
  • Set expectations
  • Start conversations warmly

2. Conversation Steering

Guides the AI's first reply based on user input (up to 500 characters).

Example: "Ask the user if they are a new or returning customer"

Use this to:

  • Qualify visitors immediately
  • Route conversations properly
  • Gather context upfront

Best practices

  • Keep greetings short and friendly
  • Use Conversation Steering to qualify leads early
  • Match the greeting to brand voice
  • Test both to see how conversations flow
