Voice Quality and Troubleshooting

If the cloned voice sounds off or cloning fails, the steps below will resolve most issues.

Why cloning can fail

  • Recording has too much background noise
  • File is corrupted or recorded at very low quality
  • MP3 format causing processing errors
  • Sample is too short (under 15 seconds)

Steps to fix a failed clone

  1. Re-record the sample in a quieter environment
  2. Use a better microphone or a dedicated voice memo app
  3. If using MP3, convert the file to WAV and re-upload
  4. Read the sample phrase shown on screen during recording for best results
  5. Delete the failed clone and create a new one

What to know

  • Clone quality is proportional to recording quality - There is no way to enhance a poor recording after the fact
  • HQ and light models behave differently - HQ cloning requires a cleaner sample
  • Cloning may occasionally fail on first attempt - Try once more before changing format
